Creating Homes, Creating Futures: When Residents Drive the Design

This week marked a special milestone in West Bathurst, as MyLife Housing joined our partners KEEP, a module home builder, and Lifestyle Solutions, the onsite support provider, for the soil turning of our latest Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) project. Vanessa and Karen were proud to be onsite to celebrate the beginning of a build that represents more than just construction - it represents a new level of co-design, being designed with future residents.

At the heart of this project are Kaiden and Cody, two young men whose voices and choices have shaped the design of their future home. What makes this milestone so meaningful is that it reflects their dream of a safe, purpose-built place to live, right in the community they know and love.

Collaboration That Makes a Difference

This project has come to life thanks to the tireless advocacy of Lifestyle Solutions and the innovation of KEEP, who will deliver the homes using modular construction - a first for SDA in New South Wales. Modular building allows us to combine speed, efficiency and quality, ensuring that residents can move into homes that meet their needs sooner, without compromise.

As KEEP shared on the day, “This build is about more than bricks, steel, and timber. It’s about creating a home that brings comfort, dignity, and independence - while making life just that little bit easier.”

Lifestyle Solutions also reflected on the journey that brought us here, acknowledging the persistence, collaboration, and care that ensured Kaiden and Cody’s vision could become a reality. For MyLife Housing, being part of this partnership is a privilege and a reflection of our goal: to create homes that go beyond the physical structure, and become safe, welcoming places where people can truly thrive.

About the West Bathurst Project

Launching at the end of this year, the West Bathurst development will deliver two purpose-built houses designed to Robust and Improved Liveability standards. One home has already been tailored for Kaiden and Cody, while the second is available for one or two residents - with all funding levels considered. Each dwelling is a standalone home, separated by fencing and designed with its own entry and access, featuring two resident bedrooms, two bathrooms and a dedicated Onsite Overnight Accommodation (OOA) room to ensure safety, privacy and independence.

Residents will enjoy open-plan living and dining areas, private landscaped backyards and parking. These luxurious homes provide independence, privacy and peace of mind, while being just 200m from Bathurst Hospital and close to shops, transport, and community facilities.

This project sets a new benchmark for SDA in the Central West, blending robust, durable features whilst ensuring the site is accessible to all without sacrificing warmth and liveability.

We’re proud to be part of shaping this new chapter - one that will see more choice for participants, and more futures built with care, collaboration, and purpose.
